In key recommendations regarding operations of global communication apps in India, telecom regulator Trai has said services such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Telegram etc. and even newer players like Zoom should not be bound by a regulatory regime as of now. Trai said that there should be no rules that would mandate these apps to intercept messages and calls.
